La Baraque

Tijdens mijn vakantie in Frankrijk heb ik een tentoonstelling bezocht in Clermont-Ferrand. De tentoonstelling gaf een beeld van de voormalige smalspoorlijn (meterspoor) van deze stad naar de top van de Puy de Dôme. De helling was zo stijl, dat moest worden uitgezien naar meer ‘grip op de rails’. Toen is gekozen voor een nagenoeg onbekend systeem met de naam ‘Hanscotte’ . Locomotieven en rijtuigen werden voorzien van horizontale liggende wielen. Bij de loc werden deze aangedreven via een ingewikkeld mechaniek. Bij loc en rijtuigen werden ze ook benut voor het remmen. Daarom stond de loc altijd vooraan.

Deze nieuwe baan wordt gebouwd door Sander en Hans Louvet in de schaal S (1 : 64). We proberen tijdens de bouw de baan van tijd te tijd te fotograferen. Dan kan via deze site de vordering van de baan gevolgd worden.

During my holidays in France I visited an exhibition about the former meter gauge railway from Clermond-Ferrand to the mountaintop of the Puy de Dôme. Since the hill was too steep they choose to use an unusual system Hanscotte, to enlarge the adhesion of the locomotive. The locomotive and wagons got four horizontal wheels. The wheels from the locomotive were driven using a complicated system; all wheels had breaks, so the locomotive was always on the front of the train.

Sander en Hans Louvet are building this layout in scale S (1:64). We will try to make some pictures during construction and put these on the site of the Modelspoorteam. Via this site you can follow the progress of the layout.
